"I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths." Proverbs 4:11

Cary Stelmahowicz

The second semester has begun, can Spring be somewhere in sight?

Winterim once again was a tremendous opportunity for learning to occur within the confines of experiential learning.  Nothing all that new or inventive, but most schools don’t go there because it takes work, dedication, and a passion for students.  LHS makes this three week adventure work because of the cooperation between students, teachers, and parents.  Film study, U.S. government, Sign Language, Microbiology on site, Art Professions, Advanced Math, Advanced Shop.  We continue to seek to avenues of learning for our students.  If you have any great ideas, forward them to us for next year and beyond.

April 13th is a date you should have marked on your calendar.  The 30th annual “Affair of the Heart” auction.  As many of you know, our auction has been tremendously successful the last few years.  Due to a great deal of planning and work behind the scenes more people have been attending, more money has been raised, and more fun for the sake of LHS has taken place.  Please keep us in your prayers as we plan and attempt to execute another successful auction.  But as usual, we need your help to succeed.  Donations, gifts and unique opportunities always add to the splendor of the evening.  Volunteering to set up and take down the event is also an important component part of a successful auction.  Be thinking, be generous, and be available.  Thanks in advance for helping us create a Christ-centered learning environment for our children.  So,. . . year thirty, the pearl is the underlying theme. . .so the auction being your oyster, find the pearl.

Recently, Thanksgiving 2018, we added a new member to our Lutheran High school team.  Mrs. Samantha Kalkowski was hired to be the Director of Recruitment and Marketing.  She lives in Kansas City, Mo. With her husband, Doug, and daughter, Berkely.  Her previous job was providing Speech and Language Therapy to students in need.  She was the Director of Speech and Language Teletherapy Services and marketed the program to Missouri school districts in order to receive federal funding for such programs.  She complete her undergraduate work at Missouri Baptist University and her Masters I n Speech Therapy at Rockhurst University.  “I am excited to work for LHSKC and have the opportunity to work in a Christ-centered environment.  I am excited that God has opened this door for me and for this new journey in my life.”  Please welcome Samantha Kalkowski to our LHSKC family.
