Lutheran High School of Kansas City celebrates its Fall Homecoming Week
from October 1st through October 7th. The theme for this year's Homecoming is
"An Evening in Paris."
The weeklong festivities began on Saturday, October 1st
with the Annual Karl Birnstein Memorial golf Tournament. The Alumni Reunion was
held Saturday evening. Alumni gathered for a tour of the school and finished
the evening at Margarita’s Mexican restaurant.
The theme for the Fall Homecoming is “An Evening in Paris”
and student celebrate the week by dressing up and showing their school spirit
according to daily assigned themes. Following the Paris idea, Monday is Colors
Day – students dress according to the colors of the French Flag (Freshman:
blue; Sophomore: white; Juniors: red; and Seniors: red, white, or blue – or a
combination of the three). On Tuesday students join in groups of two or more to
create “Team” costumes for Tour de France Day. Wednesday is Classic Film Day
with students dressing up as a character from a film classic – cult or
otherwise! On Thursday students are encouraged to show their school spirit on
Maroon and Gold Day. And Friday is Disneyland Paris Day with students dressing
as their favorite Disney character, or wearing Disney themed apparel.
The week’s celebration will conclude with the Homecoming
Dance on Friday, October 7th where the week’s theme will be echoed
in the decorations.
This year’s Homecoming kicks off Lutheran High School’s 36th
Anniversary year.
