Service for the Lord

“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”   Matthew 25:40

‘Volunteer service’ is defined as any work the student does that benefits another person or charitable organization and for which the student does not get paid. This could be as organized as a church’s VBS, youth mission trip, volunteering at Wayside Waifs or Harvester’s, or as simple as mowing grandma’s yard, shoveling snow for the neighbors, helping dad paint the basement or helping one of the LHS teachers get ready for school. No more than half of the required hours (20) can be completed during The Lutheran High School of Kansas City activities (i.e. golf tournament, auction, track meet, etc.). However, extra LHS volunteer hours can count above and beyond the required hours.

While 40 hours are required, students are challenged to do 100 hours of service this year.

The Service for the Lord form used for reporting volunteer hours is available in the office and on the website. Please click here for the Service for the Lord form. Notice that this form can easily be mailed directly to LHS. Turning in your completed forms is as easy as handing it to Mrs. Meier or Mrs. Kettler. It is best not to wait until the last minute to do this service; fill out the forms and turn them in as each service event is completed.

If you have any questions concerning Service for the Lord please call Mrs. Paula Meier at LHS or email her at [email protected].  God’s blessings, LHS students, as you go out and serve HIM!
